About Steven Perris
The Work:
Throughout his now 20+ year relationship with SFGD, Perris saw a great void in the type of artwork available to many corporate clients – art specifically and personally tailored to a specific industry. He set out to create a series of works, and more so a creative and technical process, that would solve this need.
His current work has grown to include artwork based upon a number of industries, such as medical and NASCAR, however it was one particular project that began the final metamorphosis of the Steven Perris “look”. Centex Rooney Construction Company had contracted SFGD to do the artworks for their new headquarters building; they wanted construction art, but aside from the greatly overused black and white posters of New York City being built in the 1920's and 30's, there was no such thing. It took the technically-trained creative eye of an architect to see the artistic potential of the construction sites he was visiting for the Centex job; he realized that the time had finally arrived where personalized industry and business-specific artwork was possible. The series of 32 originals documenting the construction industry was the first of its kind.
